How did you and your husband meet?
New Years Eve, dancing at Club Myst next to Taipei 101! I used to live (teaching English) in Taiwan, and he happened to have joined a friend to Shanghai and Taipei for the holidays. Taipei 101 is pretty epic on NYE! Turns out we grew up 45 minutes from each other in California, and remained in a Skype relationship for 9 months until I came home to his arms. =) That was 6 years ago!
How did he pop the question? Were you surprised?
Not surprised, but always hopeful. Having been together for 5 years, I knew it would happen eventually. We go on many trips together, and there had been multiple amazing opportunities for him to do it.. but finally, it was on a trip to Portugal, after a beautiful day exploring Sintra... We were back in Lisbon, had dinner at Feitoria, a Michelin Star restaurant, when he got down on one knee right in front of the Padrão dos Descobrimentos on the water front.
Where did you tie the knot?
His mother's backyard in Southern California. It was a very small wedding, my dad officiated.
Did you have a specific theme in mind for your wedding? (Color scheme, mood, flowers, etc.)
Cactus flower theme, so soft grey/blue/sage green paired with peachy orange.
Wedding Dress Designer & Style
My dress was the Rosalind Gown from BHLDN
What made you choose AMY O for your special day?
It was exactly what I was looking for! Just the right amount of sparkle while remaining classy & elegant looking. I could just tell from your photos on Etsy that your pieces were well made, which they are! The necklace and earrings I received are just so beautiful!
What was one of the most memorable moments from your wedding day?
Following the ceremony & family reception, we met a whole separate group of 40 of our friends to dance & party with at a rented warehouse space down town Los Angeles. But mostly, it was the pride and sheer happiness in my husband's face to have finally married me. He was proud of himself, and proud of me! and I fell in love him again all over from just seeing it in his eyes and smile!
Did you go on a honeymoon? If so, where to?
No official honeymoon yet! We are taking a cross-country road trip to Montana next month to run a half marathon at Glacier National Park! But we'll be dirty, camping, hiking, running, etc for 2 weeks in Utah, Wyoming and Montana.
Any advice for future brides?
Have fun with it, and don't spend your life savings! Its one day of your life, and it should be with people who love you just for being you. Only add elements you can't live without, like a beautiful piece of jewelry that will complement your dress and wedding bands.
