Amy O. Bride: Jessica's Tropical Paradise Wedding

Jessica and Jing's long distance relationship stood the test of time and resulted in a magical tropical Hawaii wedding.

How did you and your husband meet?
We met our last year of college and then did cross-country long distance for almost 6 years before we finally both moved to San Francisco 4 years ago. We live here now with our cat Leo.

How did he pop the question? Were you surprised?
Jing proposed to me on a beach while we were vacationing in Hawaii! I was surprised because he totally threw me off the day of by pretending to let me pick the beach we were going to. He had actually pre-planned it all and even had a photographer hiding with some fishermen to take candid photos and our engagement photos afterwards.
Where did you tie the knot?
We thought gathering all our friends and family in one of our favorite places would make such a fun and memorable wedding weekend, so we decided to return to Hawaii and have our wedding there. We chose Lanikuhonua Cultural Center because it's a beautiful corner of Oahu and has amazing sunsets. That said, we planned it all by looking at photos online and we didn't see the venue until the wedding -- it turned out exactly how we imagined.
Did you have a specific theme in mind for your wedding?
In terms of decor, I wanted it to be elegant, modern and tropical, but most of all, we wanted it to be a great time for all the people who flew to Hawaii from all over the world to share the day with us.

Who is the designer of your bridal gown?
My mom used to be a bridal gown designer, so she designed my dress! I wanted something really elegant and modern, and the dress my mom made for me was exactly what I wanted.

What made you choose AMY O for your special day?
I love AMY O's back necklaces and it complemented my dress perfectly!

What was one of the most memorable moments from your wedding day?
The whole weekend was so memorable! The most memorable was probably seeing Jing's face when my mom and dad walked me down the aisle towards him.
Did you go on a honeymoon? If so, where to?
We flew from Hawaii straight to Japan for our honeymoon. It was an amazing two weeks of beautiful cherry blossoms and delicious food!

Any advice for future brides?
Remember to focus on what's important -- getting married! Everything else is just for fun.
